Shafts and Ducts

Lafarge Cormet Shaftwall is a fire protection enclosure system, providing up to 120 minutes fire resistance, for shafts in multi-storey buildings, including lift shafts, stairwells, service ducts and plant rooms. It may also be used as a high performance wall lining system giving fire resistance from both sides and being erected from one side only.

Steel columns and beams
Lafarge Cormet Encasements provide fire protection up to 180 minutes for structural steel columns and beams. Like Shaftwall systems, they are designed for speed and simplicity of construction using normal dry lining techniques, and they are particularly suitable for use with metal stud partitions and metal framed ceiling systems.

The Lafarge Cormet Encasement system is a high performance system providing fire protection of up to 180 minutes to structural steel I section columns and beams.

The Lafarge Cormet Encasement system has been designed to enhance speed and simplicity of erection using normal dry walling methods. No special installation techniques are required.

The system features a special clip manufactured from 0.55mm mild steel, cold formed and protected by a hot dip galvanised zinc coating. Used with metal angles and channels this provides a strong, rigid metal structure to which Lafarge Firecheck wallboard is applied.

Completed column and beam linings provide a strong, impact resistant, smooth surface which accepts most types of decoration and makes the system particularly suitable for use in conjunction with plasterboard lined metal stud partitions and ceilings. Common materials and fixings allow increased site efficiency and considerable time saving over traditional methods.

Performance

The selection of boarding will depend on the performance required for fire resistance and sound insulation. Refer to performance table.

Impact resistance

For columns situated in heavy traffic areas Lafarge Toughcheck wallboard will provide a lining which is more resistant to knocks and scratches. In these cases add a layer of 12.5mm Lafarge Toughcheck wallboard to the systems shown in the performance table.

Lafarge Cormet Ceilings are typically for commercial applications. Ceiling void may be varied to accommodate services, ducting etc. They provide fire protection to steel beams, and can be used to upgrade and protect existing structures.

They are compatible with Lafarge Cormet Partitioning systems and can maintain the acoustic performance of partitioning. They provide a flush finish suitable for direct decoration or textured finish.

Performance

The selection of the ceiling system and boarding will depend on the performance required for fire resistance. Refer to the performance table.

Ceilings beneath beams

Lafarge Cormet Suspended Ceiling system can be used to provide fire protection to steel beams as well as providing an aesthetically pleasing ceiling at the required height.
